Japan Video Game Hunting 2019 |

In february I went to Japan with three other dudes, who into retro video games like me. We visited lot of places and also stopped at stores like Hobby-Hard Offs and Surugaya across the country. February is not the busiest season in Japan and also the month with less tourist. Let's get straight in to it, check the wishlist and see what this hunting season brought to us!

Here is a new project, that I'm working for a quite some time. I did an add-on to my B&O TV rack last year, where I store all my LaserDiscs but I kind of running out of space. Also, up until now I did not had a propper shelf for my LP's. Let's do it!!

21 years ago in November of 1997 a follow up to the greatest game series of all time Castlevania was released in Europe for the original PlayStation under the subtitle Symphony of the Night. At the time when most games went 3D, this one stayed loyal to 2D sprites. I borrowed SotN from a local rental store and knew directly it was a masterpiece! Back then ...

Autumn 2008 was best opportunity so far for shopping in Japan. Japanese Yen was really weak and Euro very strong. Also in 2008 Tokyo Game Show was moved (the one and only time) from the second half of September to the 9-12th of October.

Shenmue, Yokosuka, real life places & interview with spot guide map co-creator Ms. Eriko Furusaki |

Last month I went to Yokosuka in Kanagawa prefecture and also visited Dobuita street. If you familiar with Shenmue (a video game from 1999 for the SEGA Dreamcast) then you know what I am talking about. Yu Suzuki, the creative director behind this game used names and specific places from Yokosuka in Kanagawa prefecture as insperation for Shenmue (chapter 1). Now 19 years later a person, who likes and play video games and also work for the city of Yokosuka tourism department, had the idea to bring out a guide that takes you to all these places in real! We met that person and talked about this guide map and the story behind it creation.

Demon's Souls Server shutdown OFFLINE |

Today was the last day for Demon's Souls to have it's online features. With shutting down the servers, the great era of unique onlineplay going to an end. After 9 years I finally managed to finish my first playthru and put this beast to sleep.
